About: Exhibits, Family Activities, and Boats! Come Join us this weekend for an incredible celebration of a dream that has been decades in the making. We’ve made landfall and are excited to be able to share our love of wooden boats to even more members of our community.

Celebrate The Center For Wooden Boat’s Wagner Education Center Grand Opening March 23 & 24!

Be a part of history as The Center for Wooden Boats cuts the ribbon for our new two-story Wagner Education Center. A special ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10 am, Saturday, March 23. The new building includes a wooden boat shop that will be home to more programs and classes, exhibits, and events.

In addition to the opportunity to tour and experience the solar-powered facility and view boat restoration projects, the following free activities will take place over the whole CWB campus between 10 am and 5 pm:

FREE BOAT RIDES: volunteer skippers will take passengers out on Lake Union on sprit boats, steamboats, electric boats, schooners, ketches, yawls, and other historic yachts

MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS: Special discounts on membership fees and boat rentals

SIGN A SAIL: make history by signing a commemorative sail which will then be kept on display at CWB

CLASSIC YACHT EXPOSITION: a collection of classic wooden yachts – many built on Lake Union – will be on display and open to tour

CANOE CARVING DEMONSTRATION: Säädüüts Robert Peele, canoe carver, artist-in-residence, and member of the Haida tribe, will be carving a traditional canoe all weekend long!

TOY/MODEL BOAT BUILDING: Great for all ages to make and take home!

PADDLE DECORATING: A great activity for kids and families!

SCAVENGER HUNT: everyone in the family can explore CWB, collect stamps and be eligible for a prize

TRY A TOOL: visitors can try their hand at using traditional hand tools to experience cutting a dovetail, carving a mortise, planing, or even pounding some nails, and learning about the skills involved in wooden boat restoration

Food trucks will be available at the events.

We look forward to celebrating with you!
